The Last Word on Murphy Bed Hardware systems:

We use what we feel to be the finest Murphy bed hardware available today. Our spring-loaded mechanisms are made of the highest quality materials and workmanship right here in North America’ and ensure effortless opening and closing. Our mechanisms are counter balanced to prevent your bed from unexpectedly falling. You can raise or lower your Murphy bed with just one finger. The key advancement on the frame mechanism features finely tuned steel-coil springs that counter-balance the weight of the bed. This innovation has made operation of the Murphy bed both safe and effortless. Compared to other mechanism styles’ including the gas filled piston/ hydraulic systems sometimes used on Murphy Beds’ the spring mechanism is superior, as the piston/ hydraulic systems can wear out. They work similar to the same system used on your vehicles trunk lid or hatchback supports which over time’ lose their effectiveness and cannot support the weight, or work nearly as smoothly as the spring mechanism, as well as having a far lower lifespan. They also tend to have “hard-spots” when lowering or up-lifting the Murphy Bed requiring increased strength to get past that point during use? With a properly adjusted advanced spring system, it’s a finger touch both in the down and upward movements all the time. The springs do not require adjustment from use nor go out of alignment.
